The 4-wire lambda sensor, of the narrowband type, is mainly used for basic air-fuel ratio measurement and emissions control. It provides feedback to the engine control unit (ECU) or mixture indicators to help maintain the engine fuel mixture close to the stoichiometric ratio for cleaner emissions or to enhance engine performance.
